"Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you, He will not fail you or forsake you". Deuteronomy 31:6
Fail - Hebrew (rapa). This word has a wide variety of meanings in the Old Testament. It can mean to let go, to let drop or to sink down. It also may mean weakening or sinking. The most common stem usage is translated as to drop, to abandon, to let alone. In other places it means to slack or dishearten, to faint in the day of adversity. It is interesting that some of the derivatives of this word are used to refer to the ghosts of the dead or to Sheol or death itself. In another derivative, the word takes on the meaning of giants of mythology. All of these nuances have importance for our spiritual growth. God promises not to let us down, to allow us to sink, to abandon us or leave us alone. He is not slack or absent in the day of adversity. He is ready to stand by us until death as we encounter the giants on our paths to healing.
How many times have we felt that the monsters of our past are so overwhelming that we might never become what we so long to be free and whole? How many times have we cowered under the accusations of our old life as it demands recompense? God says that the evil giants are no longer to be feared. He is there in our moments of adversity and He will not fail or forsake us. With His strength to back us, we can be courageous. Now we know that success does not depend on our frail, broken spirit but rather on the mighty One of heaven.
The entire Bible is a testimony to God's faithfulness in spite of human failure. God's promise is good forever. He will not fail us. He will not leave us. The comfort in this word reaches beyond anything we come up against in life.
We have spent some considerable time looking in detail at the significance of these five men spending time Worshipping, Praying and Fasting in the opening words of Acts 13. There is good reason for doing so because God speaks, and that Prayer Meeting becomes a major turning point for the local fellowship at Antioch and also for the Church of Jesus Christ - and ultimately for the world. These men knew when to say 'NO' and when to say 'YES'.
When a group of spiritually minded people meet to do business with God, anything can happen. Also, we need to be reminded that for some 10 years God has been dealing with Saul, sorting out so many things in Saul's heart and mind and life. For 10 years, Jesus Christ has been lovingly preparing Saul for this moment.
Saul had not been forgotten or overlooked by God - nor does HE forget or overlook us. If Jesus has chosen you and called you, HE will never forget you. He will come for you when the moment is right, and when you are fully prepared.
Totally unknown to these five worshipping and praying men, they are being used by Jesus to shape the future of The Church, and to influence the world. They were involved in a big move of God, although I am sure they had no idea as to how significant this would be at that time.
They co-operated with what God was doing. They obeyed what God was saying.
We too are involved in God moving in the world - perhaps much more than we realise or recognise. We too are called by Jesus to co-operate and obey. Remember - if God has called you and chosen you, He will come for you when the moment is right and when you are ready for the task He has given you.
"How blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust" Psalm 40:4
Trust - Hebrew batah. The word means the sense of well-being and security that results from having something or someone in whom to place confidence. It is translated in the Greek Old Testament as "hope", not "belief". It stresses the feeling of being safe and secure rather than the intellectual and volitional act in response to revelation. It means to live at ease because of confidence in God.
Those who trust in God alone will be delivered from their enemies (Ps. 22:4), their prayers will be answered (I Chr. 5:20), they will walk in straight paths (Prov. 3:5), will be given joy and gladness (Ps. 16:9 and 33:21), will know inner peace and absence of fear (Ps. 4:8 and Isa. 26:3). The cause for our trust in God's promises is not based on what we have done or can do. Trusting in God's promises does not depend on how worthy I am to receive anything from Him. It is based solely on the unswerving loyalty of God's gracious kindness.
The hope in God is not a wish fulfillment but a confident expectation. God's chief characteristic is His faithfulness and trustworthiness (Deut. 33:28, Ps. 27:3). These characteristics show themselves most clearly to a believer who recognizes that he is utterly without personal resources. The believer must trust completely on a gracious and dependable God. Putting one's confidence in anything but the sovereign God is complete foolishness. In the Bible, there is a long list of false grounds for security. In particular, the Bible heaps scorn upon those who live in complacency, never having evaluated the flimsy basis for such complacency (Isa. 32:9-11, Ezk. 30:9, Amos 6:1).
This is a very serious word for a Christian. We often say that we trust God, but our actions deny these claims. Recovery begins when we honestly examine our lives and commit ourselves to do something about what we find. A fearless inventory of our behavior usually reveals that we are still trying to take care of things by ourselves. We really don't think God is reliable in every area of life. That is not trust. Trust says, "God, you are able. I put all my eggs in your basket. I'll do whatever you want me to do, but unless you come through for me, I'm finished". Start today. Pick the one thing that you have tried over and over to fix in your life but nothing happens. Decide to trust.
Do your actions show that you trust God, or is "trust" just another word in your religious vocabulary?
How many of the things I asked for and He has not done? None!
How much of the things I asked for u in ur life and He has not done? None!
God is the same past present future forever. He is the only constant in ur life. He is-- I am and this name really depicts Him cos He doesn't ever change. So if He granted my prayers for u in the past, He confirm would grant those in the present and future. That is for sure.
Well U know He really answered all my prayers, I asked for my training or should I say crash course to have people I know and u know what, Rohana is there with me. WE had a fun day today also. And I can tell u that my workload is so much more different from them all some more. I asked God to give me a job where I can have my own personal time, can go church as much as I wan, can serve and not be disrupted, Can have good money. He gave me more than those. He gave me a teaching job in which I super super slack and can spend more time with the kids and getting to know them on a more personal level. I now will be teaching in Da Qiao primary school which is one direct bus away only 15 mins ride, I teach only PE, Arts and English composition. Guess I only got jus so much to mark only and the school told me to use my own creativeness to teach Arts and PE. No rules at all. then I have to lead in mass exercise in the school. Super slack teacher life! The whole year this would be my job. And now i pray that there would be good Western and Italian food. Must test lao pa a bit more ah. See how good His goodness can stretch.. Think can stretch as much as I ask for.. not think...confirm! And another thing is I do not need to do my own lesson plan which is the most xiong admin thingy a teacher ahev to do cos the school do for me le.. See how much Lao pa loves me.
Seeing the Big Picture
..."Everything is against me!"
Jacob had come to the end of his rope. He had lost Joseph. Simeon was in jail in Egypt. Now, in order to free Simeon, Benjamin, Jacob's youngest son, would have to go to Egypt. It was more than Jacob could handle. Jacob could not see the years of preparation for what would be the most exciting time of his life and the life of a nation. The darkest hour is the hour just before daybreak. Jacob was in his darkest hour just before God's daybreak in his life. God's big picture is often too big for us to comprehend. The heartaches don't seem to add up, but Jacob was about to understand the big picture.
Eventually, Benjamin along with Jacob's other sons learned that their brother Joseph was second in command in Egypt. Joseph revealed his identity, and Jacob was reunited with his son whom he had not seen for more than 13 years. He had thought Joseph to be dead.
So often we believe our dreams are dead. There seems to be nothing left in our world to live for. Everything appears to be against us. During these times, God is doing His deepest behind-the-scenes work. During these times, God is performing a deeper work in each of us-a work that cannot be seen.
When clients began leaving my ad agency and it dried up for no apparent reason, it appeared "everything was against me." I could not see that God was orchestrating a whole new calling on my life. At the moment, it seemed like the worst thing in the world. It seemed that I had been a failure. But God said, "No." All the years before had been preparation for what God's ultimate calling would be. One of God's methods for directing His children's steps is through drying up resources: a job loss, a career change, or a disaster. In these times we are willing to listen more intently, and to seek God in ways we would not normally do. C.S. Lewis once wrote, "God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains; it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world."
For I am the Lord your God, who upholds your right hand, Who says "Do not fear, I will help you". Isaiah 41:13
Help - This word comes from a root word (azar) meaning to rescue or save or to excuse. The general sense is military assistance, but in the Psalms God's help arrives in personal intervention during illness (Ps. 28:7), oppression (Ps. 54:4), and great personal distress (Ps. 86:17).
It takes a long time to get to the place where we can ask for help. We often know we need help but there is something in us that continues to shout, "I'm not going to give up. I want it my way. I don't care!" This is a symptom of normal insanity. It is normal, all right, but it is insane. It is the belief that doing the same thing we did before will magically result in a different consequence. We always end up in the same place. We are fighting the way God designed the world and all of our shouting won't change it.
When we finally become willing to surrender, we need help. We have reached the end of ourselves at last. Our surrender is the declaration of our inner bankruptcy. We just can't do it. Calling on God at this point could be a fearful experience. We have been so used to failure and disappointment. We might fear the God will also find us unworthy. But God is not like that at all. God promises to rescue, to save us. If God can say, "Do not fear", what is there to really be afraid of? Only the voice of our old self could be bold enough to call God a liar. The truth is in God's word. He will help. That inner old voice has been lying to us all along. It is God's word that we need to believe. Remember today the admonition, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" The question of help is this: Will I believe God's promise or will I believe my old emotions? Who am I going to listen to?
"Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength" Isaiah 40:31
Wait - The Hebrew root is qawa. It means "I wait, look for or hope with eager expectation". Faith is often expressed in patient endurance confidently knowing that God will act. Waiting involves the very essence of a person's soul. There will come a time when all that God has promised will be realized and fulfilled. In the meanwhile the believer lives by means of his integrity and uprightness as he trusts God's grace and power. Hope has an eternal home in man's heart. Hope does not depend on one's circumstances, history or attitude. Hope is eschatological. As long as there is a future, there is hope. That means that no matter what the current situation, hope exists. And even death is not the end. Hebrews declares that we may hope in spite of death because death is no longer our prison.
God has planted a vineyard in our hearts for the purpose of producing fruit. For everyone in recovery, hope is our lifeblood. But the manifestation of hope takes time. Progress not perfection is the hallmark of those who have learned to wait. God's promise is real. If we wait on Him, we will see change. We will gain new strength.
Waiting is one of the most difficult things to do in this world. Our culture is completely opposed to waiting. Everything is done as quickly as possible. Even sending out this daily word. We often complain that we can no longer find true craftsmanship and quality. We know that we live with less than perfect results from construction to education. Most of these unpleasant consequences are a direct result of not being willing to wait. But God is not in a hurry. He wants perfect, not just better or best. Learning to wait takes real effort in a world that wants it now. But God tells us that there are great rewards for waiting. Be patient, and prosper.
The Lord has been putting me to be an angel and of course to be ministered by the people around me.. I thank Him that ths miniscule amount of Word that I get exposed to everyday is that which is sufficient to minister to U in the nite.
